COOL CATHEDRAL

Wells Cathedral
In the UK we aren't used to the weather that we have been having, which is hot, hot, hot!   If you need a cool restful place to visit what about a church?  They may have problems keeping warm in winter but in this heat they are ideal.  I am lucky that just six miles from my home is one of the most famous and beautiful cathedrals in the country - Wells Cathedral.

Not only is it a cool place to be, it is full of interesting historical artefacts. One of my favourite sights is the stained glass in the Lady Chapel, especially the brilliant windows above, which are not the traditional figurative stained glasswe are used to seeing, but collaged bits of glass made from fragments saved when the medieval glass was destroyed during the Civil War (1642-7) and the Monmouth Rebellion (1685).
