These colour studies were inspired by the glowing blocks of colour in Mark Rothko paintings. I chose three analogous colours which were mostly on the warm side of the colour wheel. The under painting was done with acrylic colours and then I shaved wax crayons and ironed them on top. I kept layering the wax until I was satisfied. The result is harmonious and although these are two separate paintings I do like them put together as one!
