COLOUR EXPLORED

The on-line course with Jane Davies has moved onto exploring colour. Below I have taken inspiration for the layout of the stripes from one of my favourite abstract artist, Sean Scully.  I have deliberately chosen two pairs of complementary colours - yellow, purple and blue and orange - and used them in different proportions in each of the four explorations. They are painted with acrylic paints with oil pastels applied on top.  I was expecting the results to be worse than they are.  I thought they might be uncomfortable but I find them surprisingly rich.
