PAINTING A TORTOISE!

I recently fulfilled a commission to paint a tortoise!  The proud owner of the three Herman tortoises pictured in the photograph, above right, presented me with a papier mache blank to paint to look like his pets!  You can see the result above in the larger pics above...

TORTOISE COASTERS

I have a friend who loves his tortoises, so I have just made a couple of drinks coasters to remind him of his pets!  They are a combination of collage and paint.  The background has torn up maps and painted papers collaged together and then painted with transparent acrylics.  The tortoises are also formed from collaged decorated papers with extra details added. The edges of the coasters were edged with a metallic gold pen and gold paint was splattered all over.  They were sealed with acrylic wax so they can just be wiped clean...
